Finally! Ev has said Dada and Papa, and we think Ella- although it sounds like Ewwa. And last night she looked at a baby doll and said baby. BUT today during lunch she said MAMA!! Clear as a bell!! Yay!!
And she is learning to scoot a lot faster in her improvised chinese split fashion! It's quite cute!
Now we are off to get the big girls all dolled up for the dance recital pictures tonight!!

It's Empty
Our house. It's empty. It's so empty. It was empty in a sense when Tad left, but now it is literally empty too. I walked in yesterday and I felt a little empty too. I know that's what is supposed to happen, but it is all so surreal. The last time I saw it like this was when we moved in, but we've changed literally everything in the house, so it looks completely different. It looks like us now, and we have so many memories in that house, that is hard to leave behind. I can't describe what I feel when I walk into that empty home, to see a chapter of our life is almost over. I think realizing that it's over is the hardest, but at the same time exciting. We've lived there for 10 years, and in this part of town since we got married. It's time for a change and I'm excited for that, I'm just not quite ready to say goodbye to the old.
Change is good, right? It's just a house. We'll have a new house, make new memories, and start our new chapter. It's time for me to let go, I have 2 more weeks to do that, maybe then I'll be ready.

Movers are here!!
It's been a flurry of activity lately. The girls and I moved over to Nana and Papa T's on Friday, and Uncle Castle and Aunt Joann arrived that evening too! It's a full house! The packers came yesterday and packed up most of the house, and the movers arrived today with a HUGE truck! They are taking down beds and getting furniture prepared and will move it onto the truck today. With luck, they'll head to SC today!
The house hasn't sold yet, but maybe with furniture and children out (ha ha!) it will. Wish us luck!
The older folks headed out to Branson for some R&R, and we'll meet them on Friday at Lake of the Ozarks to celebrate Nana and Papa T's 50th wedding anniversary. Uncle Castle and Aunt Joann just had their 55th wedding anniversary too. 105 years total-WHEW that's a LLLOOOOOONNNGGG time!!
Talk to you later!!

He made it!! And she's got some teeth finally!
First, he made it safe and sound yesterday afternoon! Yay!! It was a huge relief knowing that he and the dogs made it safely and without any troubles. He couldn't get into the house yesterday but is checking into it now with the realtor. It'll be so nice for him to have a house where the dogs can roam again!
And Evie finally got some teeth! We thought we saw them emerging the other day, but you couldn't get a real good glimpse at them. However, you can clearly see the corner of one popping through. She will easily have 2 bottom teeth by the 50th anniversary party!! Now if she can learn to crawl on her knees and not scoot on her bottom in the splits.......!!

Almost there!!
I can rest a bit easier tonight. Tad and the dogs made it safely to Evansville last night, and headed out this morning. After a long day of driving, and a traffic jam, they are safely tucked in bed in Asheville. He said it was a beautiful drive today, and enjoyed going through 2 tunnels, but is worn out! The dogs are wiped out too. They have been refusing to eat, but I think they might have changed their minds tonight. They will get to rest longer than last night, and then just a few more hours tomorrow and he's there!!!
And on top of that, we have a house!! He and the realtor talked this morning and got all the kinks worked out. AND he might be able to meet her there tomorrow and move in right away!! At least that is the current plan. Keep your fingers crossed. It looks like we will be moving into a small 3 bedroom 2 bath ranch with a itty bitty backyard. However, it's in a very nice, quiet neighborhood and on a cul-de-sac. And of course being in SC, the neighborhood is on a golf course. We don't back up to it, but the neighbors across the street do! Tad will be thrilled to be able to play more golf and within walking distance!
On the other front we had a so-so day. Ev had a rough night and got up super eary, so she and I napped later during the morning while the big girls enjoyed watching Kung Fu Panda. We tried to go to the local children's museum, but silly mommy forgot her billfold at home, and in it was the museum pass. I completely forgot to put it back in the car after I got it out last night to book Tad a hotel room. So, I had to load everyone back in the car, drive all the way home and try again. It was a frustrating experience, but they had a blast at the museum. Later today they got to play at Nana and Papa T's while I ran some errands. One of them was to pick up their dance costumes. Ella's is a beautiful pink/green with a tutu- she LOVES it!!! Emery's is black with pink polka dots, and is pants since she is in a tumbling routine. She is NOT happy about the pants!!
The crying over daddy didn't happen as much today. It was mostly tonight when they got to talk to him on the phone. Ella was sobbing again, and Emery crawled into a ball on the bed crying her little eyes out too. I can't even begin to explain how much this hurts me to watch, listen, and endure. I can't do anything to make them feel better, they just want their daddy. I know it will get easier, but it just feels like pieces of my heart are ripped out each time. I miss him too, and hearing it through them just makes the ache worse. It will be an extremely joyous occasion when we do see him again. I just try to think of that.
Well we are all tuckered out, so we are calling it a night! Good night!

He left....
After months of preparation and anticipation, countless trips to Lowe's to finish projects, packing, and thousands of other details, he left today. More specifically, Tad started his adventure in moving to SC. The month of May flew by, I thought we'd have more time, I thought I'd be better prepared, but I wasn't. It hit me this morning as we packed his clothes, he's really leaving. And not for a few days, but for good. We will come to him this time, and not come back to the only home my children have known, and the one I've called home for 10 years.
I choked back tears all morning for the sake of the kids. We dragged out the leaving as long as possible today not wanting to face the inevitable. Don't get me wrong, we are thrilled to start our new adventure, we are NOT thrilled about being separated. I know we didn't 'have' to do it, but it seems like it will work out better for everyone this way.
Finally, he had to go. It's a long drive, and with 2 aging chocolate labs, it will be even longer. I tried to busy myself with small details, but it didn't help. Soon Tad and I were both in tears. It was gut-wrenching to watch him say goodbye to his girls, his beloved girls. It quickly hit Ella that he was leaving and she wouldn't see him for a LONG time, and she was sobbing. That did not make it any easier. Thankfully Emery didn't catch on to the mood of everyone else, and was her typical humorous self. I don't recall exactly what all she said, she was skipping around and kept saying 'bye daddy!'.
And so he left with his gaggle of girls in the driveway, half in tears and sobbing, and the other half oblivious to what was occuring. We watched him drive the large moving van drive past, dogs in the jeep he was pulling behind, Casey cheerfully in the passenger seat. We watched until we could see him no more, Ella and I cried together for a while longer before finally going inside. We spent the next few hours at Nana and Papa T's. They thankfully created a diversion for the girls, and after an hour of crying, Ella perked up for a while.
My heart feels as though it's been ripped in half. I haven't been apart from Tad for this long for 13.5 years. We don't see him for another 4.5 weeks. I at least have the girls to console me, I can't imagine what he is going through. Though I'm not sure if 'console' is the right word. At the drop of a hat Ella and Emery will bust out in tears saying they miss their daddy. I join in crying with them, I miss him too.
He has traveled safely so far today. The dogs aren't exactly happy about it, we just hope they can manage the next few days. He should be reaching Evansville, IN soon and stopping there for the night. We'll see what tomorrow brings. Hopefully faster and easier traveling for Tad and the dogs, and less crying at our house.
I know it will get better, we will be swamped with preparing for the movers, the anniversary party, VBS, swim lessons, and before we know it dance recital will be here. Then it is our turn to make our trip to our new home. Unfortunately, knowing that still doesn't make it any easier, or the pain go away. So hug your loved one, and remind them how much you care when you see them next! And be glad you are together!
Love you all!

WE'RE MOVING!!!!!
Yep- that's right. We're moving, but not down the street, or in a neighboring suburb. We're moving half-way across the country to good ole South Carolina!! We'll be right on the border of North Carolina/South Carolina along the coast! Can you believe it? I'm going from Kansas bred and raised, land-locked for all my life to living beside the ocean and a couple of hours from the mountains!! Can you tell I'm excited??!!!! We are very close to the Brunswick Islands. North of Myrtle Beach and south of Wilmington.
So, details haven't been worked out exactly yet, but I know a couple of things. Tad will be moving there in late May sometime, he starts on the 29th. The girls and I will be staying here until after their dance recital on June 20th, but we're heading out as soon as we can after. I need to get Ella enrolled in Kindergarten and Emery in preschool. I have no idea if the schools are any good or what. We'll be renting a home for a while first to figure out where we want to live, and where those good schools are. Then we'll settle somewhere.
So, get your vacation plans ready now and come visit us!! There will be lots to do and of course lots of visiting the beach!!!
I'll post more as I know more!! Thanks for being patient with me!!
